Dycem Cello Endpin Stopper
Dycem · Cello Endpin Stopper
The Black Hole Mat,
no straps, no chair, no fuss.
A pocket-sized Dycem mat that holds the cello endpin in place on whatever floor the venue gives you. Particularly useful on marble, parquet and polished timber, where straps and rubber stoppers slide.
What it does
Grip from the mat itself.
Dycem's material grips the floor and grips the endpin at the same time, without adhesive. There's no setup. Drop the mat, set the spike on it, play. Lift it when you're done.
Because the mat is flat and small, it works in places a strapped stopper can't — stage risers, conductor's stand area, recital halls without a fixed chair.
Why cellists carry one
For the floors you can't predict.
Touring players keep one in the case for the venues that don't allow strap stoppers, where the chair you're given doesn't sit still, or where the floor is too smooth for rubber to bite. Bassists use them for the same reason. It rolls or folds into a case pocket and weighs almost nothing.
